What are the characteristics of a good parent? (Use reasons and details)

A good parent has to have a very high-developed sense of equilibrium in personality, discipline and love. First of all, good parents are potential role-models for their children. For example fathers have to know how to sow and show sense of responsability in children since young age. Good parents also have personality equilibrium in showing life-lessons. For instance, parents have to avoid trying to teach children, or teens, about "life" because it can become a hated topic to talk about. Finally, it is good to love children, but parents should avoid make them feel really special. For instance, mothers should avoid spoiling their children just because of the children's physical features or their "imposition of will". As a conclusion, I consider that any good parent has the characteristics mentioned before.
